DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Horror Open Book Club as we dive into The Reformatory by Tananarive Due\, a gripping blend of historical fiction\, supernatural horror\, and powerful social commentary. \nTwelve-year-old Robert “Robbie” Stephens Jr. is sentenced to six months at the Gracetown School for Boys after defending his older sister\, Gloria\, from a white boy from a powerful family. The school is supposed to “reform” boys\, but Robbie discovers that it is actually a place of brutality\, racism\, exploitation\, and death. Robbie can see the ghosts of boys who died there\, and those spirits reveal the school’s hidden history. \nLibrary copies of the book will be provided to program registrants; staff will contact you to arrange pick-up. \nIdeal for ages 18 +
