What do I need to get a New Tecumseth Public Library card?
When you come in to register for a library card, please bring the following with you:
· A piece of identification with your CURRENT address (driver’s licence, vehicle ownership, hospital card, utility bill, etc.)
· Children younger than 16 years of age will require the signature of a parent or guardian on their registration form.
· People residing in Bradford-West Gwillimbury, Caledon, Essa, Innisfil or King Township must also present their library card for that township.
If I don’t live in New Tecumseth can I still get a New Tecumseth Public Library card?
If you live outside of New Tecumseth, you can get a New Tecumseth Public Library if you live in one of our Contracting Areas (Adjala-Tosorontio, Mono, or Mulmur) or Reciprocal Borrowing Areas (Base Borden, Bradford West Gwillimbury, Caledon, Essa, Innisfil, or King).
What if I had a library card and lost it or have not used it in a long time?
Please report a lost or stolen library card to the Library as soon as possible so it may be cancelled. Lost, stolen or damaged cards may be replaced for $2.00.
If it’s been a long time since you’ve used your card and you’re unsure of its status, you can check online under “My Account” or by visiting one of the Library branches.
Please remember to bring your library card with you every time you visit!
What can I do on the NTPL website?
- Browse the entire library catalogue including books, magazines, audiobooks, DVDs, computer games, eBooks and more.
- Download available eBooks and Audiobooks.
- Stream available videos.
- Browse the many events, workshops, and performances offered at the Library
- Renew items and place materials on hold. You will be notified via email or phone when the items are available for you.
- Access your online account:
- Check your card status
- Update your personal information
- View the status of holds
- Check the due date of borrowed materials
- Renew materials online

Reference staff will be on hand during opening hours to answer your questions. Our staff are great at book recommendations, but they can also help with any issues related to your library card, borrowing books, and getting the most out of our digital resources.
How do I borrow ebooks or audiobooks?
You can borrow eBooks and Audiobooks through Overdrive/Libby. Once you borrow a book, it will be yours to read until it is set to be returned, when it will automatically return itself.

Can I use WiFi at the library?
Absolutely! Wi-Fi is accessible with your library card. If you don’t have a library card we can offer you a temporary pass anytime.
What are the fees for a library card if I don't live in New Tecumseth?
Rates for temporary memberships are as follows:
- 2-month membership – $10
- 1-year membership – $30
What do I do if I want a book that isn't in the library's collection?
Not a problem, we can help! We are part of a network of libraries that share materials with each other. If we do not have the book you are looking for, and it is at least 1 year old, we can try to borrow it from another library for you.
