Your Library’s Child & Youth Programming Team Can Visit You!

Schools, childcare centres, homeschool groups, and other children’s organizations are invited to connect with our Child & Youth Programming team for customized outreach visits or in‑library experiences. Whether you’re looking for storytimes, curriculum‑aligned activities, or a special group visit, we’re happy to collaborate and support your learners.

Please note that outreach and group bookings depend on staff availability, and advance notice is greatly appreciated so we can plan the best possible experience for your group.

Drop by your local branch to register!

Read all summer, track your progress, collect weekly rewards and ballots, and take part in exciting challenges through the TD Summer Reading Club. This year’s theme is Dive In! Register at any branch starting June 22. The self-led program runs July 28th – August 28th, with prizes available to be won at the end of the summer. The more you read, the more chances you get to win!

Wormy Wednesday is here in Tottenham! The worms have officially wriggled into town, and they’re hungry for your help! Together, we’ll feed them and watch as they transform scraps into rich, amazing soil that we’ll share with our community. Every Wednesday, kids can join our hands-on vermicomposting adventure! Using child-friendly tools, they’ll prepare food for the worms, care for the composting bin, and discover the magic of sustainability in action.

To make sure everyone gets a turn, please register your child only once per month.

Butterflies are back! Stop on by our Tottenham branch to view caterpillars grow and change into monarch butterflies. Learn what they eat in their different stages of life and take out books to learn more about these fascinating critters.

On social media, we will put out short blasts on when we are releasing monarch butterflies for their migration south.

**As they will be available in sight and easy reach, we ask to provide a safe distance from the enclosures, ensuring the insects are not at risk of stress. **

Children are invited to strengthen their reading skills by sharing stories with adoptable animals at the Alliston & District Humane Society. This heartwarming program boosts confidence, supports literacy development, and offers comforting companionship to the cats, dogs, and rabbits who call the shelter home. Each session wraps up with a much-anticipated tour of the facility, offering families a chance to see the incredible work that the staff and volunteers put in every day to care for the animals awaiting adoption.

Caregivers maintain full responsibility for their children throughout the entire program. Active caregiver supervision is required at all times, and participation will require signing a program waiver. Registration required for each reader.

The Wisdom of Water: Honouring Nibi with Indigenous Teachings

Join Colleen Moreau, an Indigenous facilitator, who brings over 20 years of experience, for a meaningful exploration of the importance of Nibi (water) in Indigenous cultures. Our time together will include a sharing opportunity with the Eagle Feather, homemade cedar tea tasting, and a hands-on water testing workshop to learn why clean water matters for all communities.

Please bring a clean container of water from home for testing.

Registration is required, and children ages 7–10 must attend with a registered adult.

This program is ideal for ages 7 years through to adult.

Children and caregivers will explore the importance of water through storytelling and watercolour painting inspired by Nibi (water).
