Library Membership

Full Membership

Welcome to your neighbourhood public library. A friendly place where people and information come together.

Criteria & Fees

Membership is FREE to everyone who lives in or pays property or business taxes in New Tecumseth and the contracting municipalities of Adjala-Tosorontio, Mono and Mulmur. Library membership is also FREE to residents of Bradford-West Gwillimbury, Caledon, Essa, Innisfil and King Township & vice versa through reciprocal borrowing agreements, with the provision of a membership card from that library as part of the ID presented when registering for a card. Members of the New Tecumseth Public Library (NTPL) are able to join the libraries within these municipalities as well, with presentation of our library card along with required identification.

Upon payment of an ANNUAL FEE, library membership will be granted to any person who does not meet the above qualifications.

Getting a Card

To obtain a library card, bring in a piece of identification with your CURRENT address, such as a driver’s license, vehicle ownership, hospital card, or utility bill. Children younger than 16 years of age will require a signature of a parent or guardian on their registration form.

Please remember to bring your library card every time you visit.

Renewal

If you have a library card but need to renew & update your PIN, please visit/call any branch.

Lost Card

If you have lost your card, we require identification and $2 for a replacement. Contact the library immediately to report a lost or stolen library card. You are responsible for anything borrowed on your card until it has been reported lost or stolen.

Virtual Membership

This special/limited membership allows you to explore our wide range of digital resources from the comfort of your own living room!

WHAT IS IT?

A virtual membership is a special/limited type of membership that offers an alternative to our full membership.  It allows you to explore our virtual collection of online/digital resources from the comfort of your living room, hospital bed, cottage, or other remote location.  Physical library materials  (such as print books/magazines, DVDs, etc.) cannot be borrowed with a virtual membership.  If you are interested in full privileges (access to digital resources + borrowing physical library materials) — or if you have simply forgotten your login credentials — please visit one of our three branches in person, or contact us.

I ALREADY HAVE A NTPL LIBRARY CARD. DO I NEED A VIRTUAL MEMBERSHIP TOO?

Your current library card already includes access to our full virtual collection! If you have forgotten your PIN or need to update/renew your membership, drop by any one of our three branches or give us a call (check out our Contact Us page).

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW?

Criteria & fees for a Virtual Membership are the same as a regular membership.
